Outreach - reaching the world and the local area

Recently a number of us decided to start an outreach project in Omagh and God blessed our endeavours with excellent weather which is unusual for N. Ireland at any time but especially in the summer. But with all joking aside we were blessed with beautiful sunny warm day.

We approached the task prayerfully and were inspired to break the ice (so to speak) with a short questionnaire.

Our questions in Omagh were as follows.

Do you think that Christians should be more light hearted?

Do you think that God would enjoy a good laugh?

Do you think that Churches should present God in a more positive light? Lest angry more loving.

The Bible is God’s handbook for humanity. Do you understand the Bible

God response to Prayer. Is there any one you would like to be prayed for?

While there were a number of walk-bys we were overall encouraged by the response to our questionnaire.

Only one lady objected to the content of one of the question which was "Do you think that God would enjoy a good laugh?"as she felt it was disrespectful highlighting that God takes sin very seriously. The question was subsequently re-phased to "Do you think that sometime God would laugh at how we represent Him?"

We presented a Christian Music Compilation, in addition to two small Christian publication to all our participants and a number of those asked if they would like us to pray for them or their friends and relatives, subsequently shared names and reasons for the prayer requests with us.

Following the successful initiation of our Outreach Project we now intend Exploding the Word of the Living God in all of the small towns across N. Ireland.

If you are interested either as a group or as an individual in Christian Outreach we would welcome your input and would take this opportunity to invite Christians of all ages, cultures and denominations to join with us to reawaken N.Ireland to it's Christian roots.

• William Huston

  
  
  William Huston, is an ordained preaching elder / minister for a congregation in Ballymoney and lived with his wife Elsa in Co Antrim.
  
  William recently addressed the Welcome Church in Lurgan with a message entitled 'An Invitation to a King's Wedding' in which he explores the parable which is recorded in Matthew Chapter 22, of a King who is arranging the Wedding of his Son, and how the first invited guests refused to accept the invitation so he sends his servants out into the highways and byways to opened it up to everyone in the Kingdom, rich and poor alike.

  Gus has been the main minster to the Craigavon Church since it started in 1990.
  
  Originally from County Cork which is situated in the west of Ireland he moved to Northern Ireland as a younger man and lives with his wife Norah in Belfast. Gus is gifted with a pastors heart towards the church congregation and regularly engages within the caring ministries of the church, such as visiting the sick and maintain contact with many who have been imprisoned for Christ across the world.
  
  In his latest sermon Gus explores how we as Christians continue to benefit from the Days of Unleavened Bread.

  Morris has been a Christian speaker for over 40 years within churches across the widest and breadth of Ireland North and South. As a gifted evangelist Morris teaches as inspired by the Holy Spirit and is uniquely able to ingratiate himself into any group setting, quickly finding opportunity to proclaiming the wonderful message of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
  
  Morris has been known to deliver a full sermon with little to no notes as he allows himself to be lead by the spirit of truth.
  
  Morris frequently speaks of the gift of eternal life, which our Heavenly Father has made available to all humanity and he is renown for being able to successfully mix laugher with serious instruction in a unique delivery of the true Gospel.
  
  In this his most recent message, Morris presents a message close to his heart as he explores the importance of us all becoming better listeners both to each other and in what God wishes to say to us in our personal walk with Him.

• Connie Maxwell

  
  Connie has been a founding member of the pastoral counsel since it was first introduced to support the active ministry in the Church a number of years ago and quickly moved into a public speaking ministry following her ordination.
  
  Connie in her latest sermon, entitled 'A Pearl of Great Price' discusses the examples Jesus used within the four gospels to demonstrate what the Kingdom of Heaven was like, and how we as citizens of that kingdom are to live.
