We belong to a mother church based in Lurgan. We have a number of house churches in Ireland, and Seskinore House Church is relatively new.
House Churches work on the principle that small groups are the best to teach about Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father, but don't just take our word for it check it out in the Bible yourselves. The original churches mentioned in the bible where all house churches so we feel that we are in very good company.
It is important to understand that House Churches are not meant to replace today's traditional congregations, but rather to provide an opportunity for those who prefer to share together in a smaller more informal group. This can be especially important for bible studies etc.
Our closest congregation is situated in Lurgan and the next closest would be Ballymoney so as you can see distance was a factor, but it was not the only one.
We are a gifted Church and train our speakers to share their individual gifting with the wider church family. We are able to share our worship with all Christians who accept the truth as taught within the Scriptures and it is our hope that anyone sharing with us will find joy, hope, love and peace through Jesus.
We try to make our meetings informal. As our group ranges from teenagers to pensioners, we try to make sure everyone is involved.
We like our meetings to be interactive and give everyone a chance to participate. The starting point of our formal worship is normally a hymn or two than one of the group will open the service in prayer. A short message may be included at this point which could be based on a scripture, or there may be a scripture reading. The opportunity for us to praise God is always available and we may sing another hymn at this point. The main sermon normally lasts about 40 minutes but don't worry they are always interesting and informative. A select of sermons are to the right of the web-page please feel free to listen and evaluate the content of the teaching.
At the end of the service we usually includes time for discussion and other interactive activities such as fellowship while enjoying some refreshments. Sometimes we do something totally unplanned, but that's all part of the fun of small informal house churches.
